Inner Certainty In Times Of Uncertainty
There are many words and phrases that have become household vocabulary in 2020. This is due to the Covid pandemic, other world-changing events, and the culture that has been created by our current state of crisis.
There are four words, however, that have haunted every channel, every article, and every one of our minds. No matter our nationality, language, or beliefs, these four words keep playing on repeat in our world. It doesn’t matter if we are rich or poor — left or right. No matter our race, culture, background, or current situation — we have heard these words thousands of times. They live at the beginning and end of a million sentences.
In these uncertain times…
No matter who you are or what you believe, it is impossible to evade the reality that is these uncertain times.
This uncertainty haunts us. Sometimes uncertainty can be worse than the worst form of certainty. It is the not knowing that is the hardest — the lack of security.
The primary cause of disorder in ourselves is the seeking of reality promised by another.
— Jiddu Krishnamurti
Our seeking of reality promised by another — whether it be promised by our country, our circumstances, or anything else outside of ourselves — has always been a challenge for us. The absolutely uncertain times that we are living in make this seeking of security, outside of ourselves, more futile than ever.
